Electron Microscopy Sciences Supa Mega Slim Cassette, Green
Supa Mega Slim Cassettes are an innovative solution for the processing and embedding of large tissue specimens. They are half the depth of a conventional Supa Mega Cassette, offering significant improvements in processing time, and ensures distortion free, consistent high quality tissue processing. Used in conjunction with the Supa Mega Slim embedding mould, they cast in 20 minutes at -8 degree C, compared to 50 minutes for conventional Supa Mega Blocks.
The novel hexagonal pore design offers a greater open surface area, compared to the slots of conventional Supa Mega Cassettes. This ensures a more efficient flow of reagents during processing and reduces carry over of reagents. The increased open surface area also reduces the occurrence of embedded specimens being separated from the cassette when sectioning fibrous specimens, as it significantly increases the binding between the embedded tissue block and the cassette.

Both sides of the 200µm thick conductive polycarbonate base have 30µm thick conductive adhesive. Total thickness is 260µm. Same material as the PELCO Image Tabs™. Protection for handling, storage and shipping is provided on one side by the 25µm thick, transparent liner and on the other side by the 40µm thick, white liner. The conductive adhesive is a carbon–filled acrylic adhesive, free of solvents. It can be removed from the specimen mount with ethyl acetate, ethanol, isopropanol or alcohols. Temperature maximum is 60°C (140°F). Small impurities of Cu, Si, Sb, S, Na, P and very small impurities of Fe and Mg can be found. Refrigeration will increase shelf life but a warm-up time of 1 hour is then required before use.
